(WIAT) — Linn Park received a new addition on Tuesday.

A sculpture that celebrates the life and work of Charles Linn, the park’s founder, was unveiled.

The sculpture weighs more than 700 pounds and stands 13 feet tall.

It took around six months to create.

Financing for the sculpture was provided by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the City of Birmingham.

Sculptor Branco Medenica says it will also serve as a commemorative piece that honors the life and work of Charles Linn.

The sculpture’s official unveiling will be held on Wednesday at noon, just in time for World Multiple Sclerosis Day.
