Numerous summer programs available for children in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — School is out for the summer, and that has some parents scrambling to find activities to occupy their children’s time.

Childcare Resources has compiled a list of activities, including some fun learning opportunities that exist for summer.

Many of the programs are free or low cost to keep children engaged all summer.

“We want to encourage continuous learning throughout the summer,” Joan Wright  with Childcare Resources said. “We don’t want to have children slip back over the summer break and lose the ground they gained throughout the school year. Especially the younger the child is, it’s very important that they return to school ready to succeed and  continue learning.”

Libraries, museums and parks with free and half-priced admissions are just some of the options.
