CLANTON, Ala. (WIAT) — For 63 years, United States Army Master Sgt. Olen Berry Williams was listed as Missing in Action (MIA).
Now, his remains will be brought back to Verbena, where he is set to receive a proper burial.
Sgt. Williams served in the Korean War and was listed as MIA on December 12, 1950.
When his unidentified remains were found in 1954, he was buried in Hawaii.
The case was re-opened in recent years, and a positive identification was made after DNA tested was conducted on Williams’ niece and her daughter.
CBS42’s Al Ratcliffe will have more on this story on CBS42 News at 10.
