BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Based on new research, Americans appear more willing to part with tax dollars if it means it will go to disaster relief.
According to a Pew Research Center poll, most Americans want the government to provide financial assistance to states in need, regardless of the cost.
That money should be offset by making other budget cuts.
Republican lawmakers have been pushing similar legislation in the wake of the tornado in Moore, Oklahoma and the devastation left by Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
