(WIAT) — According to the Center Point Fire District, emergency teams respond to about 250 fires a year.
However, the district has a plan to help combat the high number of calls.
They are offering extinguisher training to businesses, organizations and communities located in the district.
Valspar and HomeLand Vinyl donated funding for the training simulator.
“The partnership we have with Center Point Fire to help local emergency response not only helps the industry, it also helps the community,” Valspar’s Joe Huff said. “Having a demo unit and being able to do the real work and the training exercises that we’re doing helps aid in our training and effectiveness.”
The fire district adds that having a trained staff is critical for everyone’s safety when a fire strikes.
