Man arrested in Memphis in connection with April homicide in Birmingham

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WIAT) — An arrest has been made in connection with a Birmingham homicide investigation.

21-year-old Gregory Kelly was arrested and charged with murder in the April 5, 2013 death of Jonathon Cole.

Birmingham Police Department Homicide investigators followed information that led them to Memphis, Tennessee, where Kelly was arrested.

The BPD worked alongside Memphis Homicide detectives, and Kelly was taken into custody on Friday morning by the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Memphis.

Kelly has not yet been extradited, but a release from the Birmingham Police Department says he will be at a later date.

A $500,000 bond is a part of the murder warrant obtained by the Birmingham Police Department.
