Birmingham, AL (WIAT)-Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus returned to his roots today for his annual youth football camp.
The camp was hosted at Carver High School where several hundred kids ages 8-17 came out to learn the fundamentals of football.
The former Tide player expressed his excitement of being back home and having the opportunity to set an example for kids who aspire to take their football career to the next level.
“You want to give them somebody to really look up to,” said Dareus. “We all lead by example and trying to bust our butts to show them how to do it the right way. That’s just the whole motive and the whole focal point of the whole camp.”
In two seasons since being a first-round draft pick out of Alabama, Dareus has become an anchor on the defensive line for the Bills.
Last season he had 39 tackles and 5.5 sacks after recording 43 stops.
