ANNISTON, Ala. (WIAT) – A change in the law, is paying off big for convenience store owners in Anniston.
The city is allowing in store alcohol sales, on Sundays beginning at 11am. Business owners say they immediately noticed the difference Memorial Day Weekend.
Ahmin Ahmad says, “It was crazy. It was one of the best sales we’ve had in a year. We’re very happy. It’s the right decision. Sensible decision. It’s late, but not too late.”
The Sunday liquor sales wouldn’t have happened without a local amendment approved during the legislative session. It was signed by Governor Bentley in April.
