Bradley Byrne to announce political plans Tuesday

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) – Former Republican candidate for governor Bradley Byrne said he will make an announcement Tuesday concerning his political future.

Byrne said Monday he will make an announcement concerning both the upcoming special election for the 1st Congressional District and the 2014 race for governor. The Mobile lawyer said his announcement will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Five Rivers facility on the Mobile Causeway. That’s the same location where he kicked off his 2010 race for governor.

Byrne isn’t saying what he will announce Tuesday, but he noted that the 1st Congressional District is very similar to the southwest Alabama district he represented on the State Board of Education. It also includes the district he represented in the state Senate before becoming chancellor of Alabama’s two-year colleges.
