(WIAT) — Tuesday, June 11, 2013, marks the 50th anniversary of the desegregation at the University of Alabama.
All year long, the campus is celebrating that monumental day with the Through The Doors series.
On Friday morning, an interfaith prayer service was held in Tuscaloosa.
The service looked at the role of the faith-based community during the Civil Rights movement.
UA President Judy Bonner also presented commendations to two churches for the role they played in helping to integrate the university.
