Silver Star presented to Northport man

(WIAT) — A Northport man has been awarded with the Silver Star medal almost 50 years after fighting in the Vietnam War.

Gary Landon Hill was given the honor during a special ceremony at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Friday.

He was give the medal for his part in the Battle of Khe Sanh.

The Silver Star is the third-highest military decoration of valor.
