(WIAT)– A University of Montevallo student accused of killing cats on campus is asking for youthful offender status. 20-year old Christian Slaton is charged with four counts of intentional animal torture. Last October, he allegedly killed four cats and displayed their carcasses around the campus. A hearing on the youthful offender status is set for August 5th. If Slaton is convicted, the youthful offender status would limit the length of his punishment and probation.
