Shoal Creek, AL (WIAT)-A rather serene night hides the fact that mother nature had her way with Shoal Creek earlier today.
A three hour delay during Round 2 of the Regions Tradition led a lot of golfers to adjust their strategy.
I’m okay with what I shot,” said Fred Couples. “It was a hard day for everybody.”
“The round became a little erratic towards the end and it’s just unfortunate,” said David Frost. “The golf course was in perfect shape. I think it was playing tough so the rains kind of slowed things down a bit.”
Jeff Sluman entered the day at the top of the leaderboard but a late surging Duffy Waldorf overtook him at the top.
“I played pretty sharp and I didn’t get into too much trouble,” said Duffy Waldorf.
With better weather expected tomorrow Duffy Waldorf’s 9-under-par won’t have to deal with mother nature’s obstacles so we’ll see if he can maintain that lead.
Duffy Waldorf 67-68–135 (-9)
Jeff Sluman 65-71–136 (-8)
Michael Allen 68-69–137 (-7)
Mark Calcavecchia 68-69–137 (-7)
Fred Couples 66-71–137 (-7)
Rod Spittle 71-66–137 (-7)
