Retired federal judge, U.W. Clemon is receiving top honors from the American Bar Association.
Clemon has been named as the recipient of the 2013 John H. Pickering Award. This award is one of the organization’s most prestigious awards. It honors lawyers and judges with a distinguished service record, and who demonstrate outstanding legal ability.
Clemon, who was Alabama’s first black federal judge, retired from the bench back in 2009 and joined the Birmingham law firm White Arnold & Dowd P.C. It is here he defends those accused of wrong doing and represents others in cases involving personal injury, environmental torts, corporate litigation, class actions and employment law.
Clemon will be presented with the award during the ABA’s annual meeting in San Francisco, August 8th.
