(WIAT) — Cornerstone Schools of Alabama has become Birmingham’s first school to be accepted as a International Baccalaureate Primary Years school.

The school spent three years as an IB Candidate School, all while meeting standards and criteria.

The IBS method concentrates on more conceptual topics, such as teaching children to ask questions and express themselves.

Cornerstone serves kindergarten through eighth-grade students.

Approximately 300 students are enrolled at the school.
