(WIAT) — It’s a summer camp without swimming pools and sleeping bags.
Instead, the Girls CAN Construction Camp, sponsored by Alabama Power, gives young ladies hands on experience about careers in construction.
The idea is to open their minds to great careers they may not have previously considered.
All week long, girls in the eighth grade through 12th grade are getting their hands dirty with carpentry, welding and computer drafting projects.
This is the fifth year for the camp.
