CHINA (WIAT) — An elderly woman in China was overwhelmed when her children gave her $65,000.
Living in a rural area, she didn’t put the money in the bank.
Instead, she chose to wrap the money up in plastic and put it in a drawer.
Six months later she wanted to do a little redecorating.
She went to the drawer where her money was stored to find that termites were eating her cash.
She took the damaged banknotes to the bank, where the denominations were identified.
The bank replaced just over $55,000 and a free account.
She left without $9,700, but she’s still happy.
