(WIAT) — Ryan Sims, the Shelby County man accused of holding students hostage at Chelsea Middle School, is out of jail.
The 21-year-old was released from the Shelby County Jail on Thursday.
He’s charged with kidnapping and making terrorist threats.
Sims posted bond on June 6 for $515,000.
In February, Sims allegedly held five Chelsea Middle School students at gunpoint in the girls locker room.
His attorney claims Sims suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
Sims’ preliminary hearing is set for July 31, 2013.
