NASCAR’s Jason Leffler dies after dirt track accident

Bridgeport, NJ (WIAT)-NASCAR driver Jason Leffler died on Wednesday after a sprint car accident in a dirt track race at Bridgeport Speedway in New Jersey.

Leffler, a 37-year-old, was a two-time winner on the Nationwide Series and finished last Sunday at Pocono in his first NASCAR Sprint Cup start of the year.

Leffler is a native of Long Beach California and finished his last full NASCAR season in 2011 racing in the Nationwide Series for Turner Motorsports.

This year he spent most of his time racing in sprint car events including Wednesday’s race.

Leffler is survived by son Charlie Dean.
