(WIAT) — Books can open the door to whole new worlds.

They take us to far away places and make us believe that anything is possible, like having magic powers or becoming a professional baseball player for example.

On Saturday night, the Birmingham Barons are going to celebrate the wide world of books by organizing a public library night.

Everybody is invited to join them.

It is an effort to encourage kids to read over the summer.

As a specialty, the first 100 kids who show a library card at the gate will get a free gift.

First pitch against the Jackson Generals is set for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

You can find more information on tickets here.
