(WIAT) — This time of the year, Alabama’s Gulf Coast is packed with families on vacation.

But their nice beach experience is often interrupted by the unpleasant view of unsavory things washed up on the white sand beaches.

Seaweed and unwelcome trash like beer cans, bath products or fishing items can be found on the shore.

Now, Gulf Shores has hired a contractor to come and clean up the mess by having clean-up crews remove the trash.

Seaweed, while a natural element, can’t sit out on the beach because of the smell.

Tropical Storm Andrea churned up the gulf, tossing many of the items ashore.

Beatrice Bode contributed to this report.
