Counterfeit scam in Walker County

(WIAT) – Counterfeit bills are making their way across Walker County, costing more than a thousand dollars in losses so far. Police say so far they’re in the form of twenty dollar bills … the U. S. Secret Service is on it’s way to investigate.  Dora Deli “owner, Dan Frederick “It affects the whole business when your losing money it hurts your small businesses especially.”  Police say throughout Walker County, specifically Dora, Sumiton, and Parish, more than one thousand dollars has been passed off as the real thing. and insurance doesn’t cover these losses. Dora café has lost eighty dollars in three weeks .. all in 20 dollar bills.  the secret service will be in Dora Tuesday morning to further investigate this ongoing counterfeit problem. If you suspect you’ve been given a counterfeit bill , you should take it to the police immediately.
