(WIAT) — Alabama certainly knows how to get the most from a tall cold beer.
The state has the third-highest beer tax in the nation.
According to the Tax Foundation, Alabama beer drinkers pay 59 cents for every six pack they buy.
That averages out to about $1 for every gallon.
Tennessee has the highest tax at 66 cents per six pack, followed by Alaska at 60 cents.
Missouri is the state with the lowest tax on beer, charging a measly 6 cents per gallon of beer.
