(WIAT) — Some of the most intelligent minds in the nation are in Hoover this week.
The Hoover City School System is hosting the 2013 National Forensic League Speech and Debate Tournament.
It’s billed as the nation’s largest academic competition.
More than 6,000 students from all 50 states are participating in the event.
The competition consists of simultaneous debate, speech and acting events at different schools.
It began on Tuesday and is set to wrap up on Friday, when the final winners of each category will be announced.
