The Birmingham Police Department has released a statement on the arrest of of a juvenile suspect in connection with a kidnapping investigation.
A juvenile suspect, of Birmingham, Alabama, has been arrested.
The suspect is in the custody of the US Marshals in Dallas where extradition procedures are pending.
As mentioned earlier, BPD Family Services and Homicide detectives conducted an investigation after responding to a reported kidnapping from 142 Harding Court Way. After responding to the incident location, investigators learned that a 14-year-old girl left the location with the 10-month-old De’Anthony Dejuan Kelly. The 14-year-old was last seen leaving the area with another female, believed to be Walker, in a silver Dodge Charger driven by a black male. Investigators received information that the suspects were possibly headed to Mississippi.
The Alabama Department of Human Resources will coordinate the transportation of both juveniles back to Alabama.
UPDATE: According to Sgt Williams of the Birmingham Police Department, De’Anthony Dejuan Kelly was found in Dallas, Texas around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
The fourteen year-old girl had taken him to a friends home and never returned.
Officials are now working on returning the two back to Birmingham.
ORIGINAL: A missing child alert was issued on Tuesday by the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
According to a release from the department, 10-month-old De’Anthony Dejuan Kelly was taken by a 14-year-old girl in the early morning on Monday, June 17.
The 14 year-old and an unknown female were last seen entering a silver 2010 Dodge Charger that was being driven by an unknown black male.
The four are believed to be headed towards Mississippi.
