(WIAT) – Charm and grace have always been associated with a southern lady.

However, sometimes young people need a little extra help soothing out the rough edges.

That’s where Cullman Regional Medical Center’s Ladies Etiquette Class comes in handy.

The course is taught several times a year and is growing in popularity, according to the event’s organizers.

They typically have about 20 to 30 girls participate.

Activities include meeting and greeting others, proper telephone manners, table manners and even cell phone etiquette.

Instructor Courtney Speciale is also an elementary school teacher.

She says being a southern young lady does come with a lot of expectations of good manners, but she believes there’s a resurgence right now of more young people taking on those leadership roles.
