(WIAT) — Are doctors performing surgery when it’s not really needed?

USA Today reviewed government records and medical databases.

Their review found that doctors are absolutely performing surgeries when they don’t need to perform them.

According to the paper, many doctors perform procedures simply for insurance money.

The top six surgeries performed that are not really necessary are cardiac angioplasty, pacemakers, back surgery, hysterectomy, knee or keep replacements and Cesarean sections.
