(WIAT) — Latonya Kelley’s long wait is finally over.

On Friday evening, her beloved 10-month-old boy returned to Birmingham, safely into the arms of his overjoyed mother.

De’Anthony Kelley was kidnapped in the middle of the night from a family friend’s home on Monday.

After a search that ventured all the way to Dallas, Texas, he was found safe and sound.

Fast forward two days and his family could hardly contain their excitement.

The screams and car horns were audible before the car even parked.

“I just thank the world for my baby being at home,” Bernadine Kelley, the boy’s grandmother, said on Friday. “I love everybody, and thank you, Jesus!”

While it’s been a worrisome and tiring week for Latonya Kelley and her mother, everything was better when they saw little De’Anthony being carried up the terminal at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.

“My dad lied like he was going to the bathroom and he went and stood at the terminal for them to come out,” Latonya Kelley commented. “[Then] I see my daddy bend down, and I just took off running.”

“It was like we all took out running,” Bernadine expressed happily. “It was just a joyous occasion.”

Only a few days earlier, on Wednesday, Latonya Kelley said the entire ordeal was like a dream. Though her son returned to her on Friday, she said that it still feels like one.

“It still don’t feel real. It still feels like a Lifetime movie,” she quipped. “I have my baby back and everything, and it still don’t seem like that’s what really happened.”

Thankfully for Latonya, what feels like a dream is no longer a nightmare anymore.
