18 wheeler crash leads to part of I-65 being shutdown

CLANTON, Ala. (WIAT)- An early morning crash, involving an 18 wheeler running into the underpass pillars of Highway 31 by exit 205 near Clanton has lead to both northbound and southbound lanes of I-65 being shutdown.

The vehicle, which appears to have been caring a large amount of liquid containers, left a large debris field in the area.

Clanton Police, Alabama State Police, and accident investigation teams are on the scene.

While the accident has caused a good amount of delays, one lane northbound and one lane southbound have now been reopened.

No word on the condition of the driver at this time, but CBS42 has a person on the scene. We will update you with the latest information as soon as it becomes available.
