BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Athlon’s 2013 All-Sophomore team named T.J. Yeldon and Amari Cooper among its first teamers. Yeldon rushed for 1,100 yards and 12 touchdowns as a freshman.
Cooper was the Crimson Tide’s leading receiver with 59 receptions for 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Although there’s been more focus than usual on Alabama’s offense during the offseason, it’s two top Crimson Tide defenders who were named to Athlon Sports’ Preseason All-American team.
C.J. Mosley and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix were named first team All-Americans.
Other Tide notables include Cyrus Kouandjio, who was named on the second team, Anthony Steen, who was placed on the third team ,and quarterback A.J. McCaaron, who was named to the fourth team.
All of these players that made the Athlon teams were also named to Athlon’s All-SEC team that was unveiled a couple weeks ago.
