(WIAT) — As most people know, it’s important to stay hydrated as the heat rises during the summer months.

But sometimes that can be a difficult task for those with limited means.

Throughout the day on Friday, donations of bottled water were delivered to the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham.

Dwayne Thompson, Birmingham Police Community Relations Assistant, said they received a large donation from Christian Services. The donation center also received an additional 120 cases of water.

The water will be passed out to the elderly and the homeless when the temperatures hit  the at-risk zone.

The Birmingham Water Works Board has a group of young ambassadors to help pass out water to those in need.

Anyone who would like to make a donation, call the Birmingham Fire Department or the Birmingham Police Department.
