(WIAT) — After 10 years as Alabama’s Secretary of State, Beth Chapman has decided it’s time for her to move on to other things.
Chapman announced her resignation, effective August 1, on Monday.
“I’ve started looking at some opportunities in the private sector and certainly have to make a decision that’s in my best interest and in the best interest of my family,” Chapman said. “At this time, that’s in our best interest.”
Governor Robert Bentley hopes to name Chapman’s replacement before August 1st.
He says he already has some people in mind for the job.
