GADSDEN, Ala. (WIAT) — Gadsden Police believe they have broken up a major prostitution ring operating under the guise of an online escort service.
Several ads on a website featured women soliciting company in exchange for payment.
Daniel Oravet, 24, is charged with prostitution in the second degree.
Police say Oravet acted as an online pimp.
Gadsden Police called the initiative Operation Disclaimer.
In addition to Oravet, more than five women were taken into custody, ranging from 22 years old to 40 years old.
Police found the women by setting up dates through the online ads.
They say this problem was much bigger than they thought.
More arrests, including men soliciting the services of women, are expected to be made in the future.
