(WIAT) — UPDATE: Belle Foods has announced that it will be allowed to close 12 Food World stores in Alabama and Florida. A judge ruled that the closings would be allowed as part of the company’s chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.
The Food World stores on Green Springs Highway and Allison-Bonnet Memorial Drive in Hueytown.
ORIGINAL: Belle Foods, a popular grocery store chain with stores all across the Southeast, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The company says it is having a hard time paying debt with the revenue from its stores.
Problems stemming from a decline in business and technological structures led to the company’s decision to file for bankruptcy.
Belle Foods owns 57 stores across the Southeast.
