BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A good night’s sleep, along with a healthy lifestyle, can significantly reduce someone’s risk of heart disease.
Researchers in the Netherlands found people who exercise, follow a healthy diet, watch their alcohol intake and don’t smoke cut their risk of heart problems.
If those who follow all of those guidelines also get seven or more hours of sleep, the chances of cardiovascular disease drops even lower.
The study found that sleep lowers the risk by 65 percent and reduces the risk of fatal cardiovascular disease by 83 percent.
