(WIAT) — Smith Lake Park’s July 4th Blowout is underway with the rain not dampening the spirits of the thousands of campers who have already arrived on site.
By evening, 6,000 people are expected to converge into the park area to watch the fireworks, which should begin at around 9:20.
Park officials say they will delay fireworks just a bit since Heritage Park in Cullman plans to shoot there’s off at 9 o’clock.
So far today there’s been an ice cream and milk chugging competition, which was a mixture of fun and pain brought on by brain freeze!
Also, in the decorated golf carts competition, which paraded around the music stage, the patriotic theme carts included several K9’s clad in red, white and blue bananas on board!
About 1200 fireworks are being set up by workers for a spectacular 15 minute show.
