BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Many people will probably be hitting the lakes this weekend.
As such, marine police want boaters to keep some things in mind.
The campaign is called Watch Your Wake, Share The Lake.
It reminds boaters to slow down.
Doing so prevents hazardous wakes, which can be dangerous for swimmers.
If you’re caught creating big wakes, you could get a ticket.
The fines run between $100 and $500.
