(WIAT) – It’s a long holiday weekend and some of you may have waited until today to hit the roads for a quick vacation. Make sure to keep your eyes on the road and drive safely because state troopers are out in full force! They will be watching state roads closely through the end of the weekend. They are looking for reckless drivers, drunk drivers and people not wearing seat belts. You may come across trooper checkpoints, where they will be checking for valid driver licenses and insurance. If you’re in Shelby County, this weekend, deputies will be out for safety checkpoints between the hours of 1:00-3:00 a.m.

Buckle up and have a safe trip!
