BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — According to the Alabama Department of Public Safety, four people died in automobile crashes over the Fourth of July travel period.
The travel period, which began at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday and ended at midnight on Sunday, resulted in 434 crashes.
Of those 434 crashes, 154 caused injuries.
Officials with the Alabama Department of Public Safety are unsure whether alcohol was a factor in any of the crashes.
Seat belts were only used in one of the four fatal accidents.
