BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – New research shows African-Americans with blood cancer don’t live as long as Caucasians, despite receiving the same care.

Doctors say African-Americans have shorter survival times among patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

African-Americans are more susceptible to the more aggressive forms of the cancers.

Scientists are trying to figure out why biological factors, such as race, affect cancer survival.
