BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — It’s nothing new, but temporary workers are making a comeback across the nation.
Over the last four years, the number of freelancers, contract workers and consultants increased to nearly 3 million at major companies.
That jump is more than a 50 percent increase.
Employers are hiring more and more temporary employees as uncertainty about the economy continues to linger.
They also want more flexibility in their ability to match payrolls to changes in company revenue.
