BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Members of the Alabama AFL-CIO along with the Hispanic Interest Coalition gathered on the steps on Linn Park Tuesday calling on Alabama’s Congressional delegation to support a comprehensive reform to the nation’s immigration policy.

The U.S. Senate passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill before leaving for Fourth of July recess.

The bill includes a path to legalization for undocumented immigrants in the U.S. and increased border security.

HICA and the Alabama AFL-CIO want Alabama’s congressional leaders to stand behind a immigration reform policy that centers around a path to citizenship, supremacy of federal law and the Dream Act.
