BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Monday morning deputies were called to a home in the 1900 block of West Ridge Drive near Huffman to investigate a report of a missing person.

They spoke to the son of the missing man who said he was unable to locate his father.

His father, 61-year-old Glenn Paul Florence, had been home on the night of July 7th when the son went out. When he returned home around 12:30 a.m. he could not locate his father.

What the son did find, though, was a note saying his farther had gone fishing at Eastlake Park.

He drove to Eastlake Park and found his father’s van but did not feel safe looking for his dad by himself.

He contacted Birmingham Police and an officer walked around the park with him, but they were still unable to locate his father.

Sheriff’s Office Divers searched the lake on Monday but did not locate the man.

This case is being investigated as a missing person.

Anyone with information about the disappearance of 61 year old Glenn Paul Florence is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450.
