BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Two women have been arrested and charged in connection with a string of recent burglaries in the Shady Grove and Graysville areas of Jefferson County.

Nancy Howard, 41, and Brandy Lively, 30, were arrested on Tuesday by deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Police gathered evidence in recent days that led them to determine that the two women were at a home in Graysville where one of the burglaries occurred. When the two women were approached and questioned by a neighbor, they said they were passing out flyers to promote a sandwich shop that was expanding.

After gathering more information, deputies determined that the two women were staying at a home in Adamsville. On Wednesday, deputies went to the home, knocked on the door and eventually were allowed access inside the home. Both women were found, one of them in a back bedroom and the other in an attic.

Deputies discovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and “components of a meth lab” while inside the home, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

In addition, numerous stolen items were recovered.

Howard and Lively are both charged with burglary, unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and theft of property.

Both of their bonds were set at $192,000. They are being held in the Jefferson County Jail.
