WASHINGTON, D. C. (WIAT) — Thousands of military employees will be dealing with 20 percent pay cuts over the next three months.

Now, according to a report by the Pentagon obtained by CBS News, 32 senior officers around the world are living in homes that could be downsized or replaced to save millions of dollars.

The report shows many top generals and admirals are living in pricey homes and neighborhoods and hiring cooks, gardeners and drivers.

The list of homes includes Casa Sur, a five bedroom home in Coral Gables, Florida, leased for $106,000 a year.

The head of the U. S. Southern Command, General John Kelly, lives there rent free.

A Navy rear admiral lives in a 6,600 square foot Italian villa in Naples.

One Air Force General commanding NATO lives in a 15,000 square foot home in Belgium.

An alternative to downsizing  the properties would be giving the senior officers a housing allowance. The allowance would let each senior officer find a new home on their own, but officials say security concerns make that impractical.
