GADSDEN, Ala. (WIAT) — Lawmen, business owners and some educators spent time in the classroom on Wednesday learning about how Alabama’s new gun law will impact them.
The event, which was hosted by the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, featured legal experts.
A state prosecutor explained the ins and outs of the new law to those who were interested.
The law allows gun owners to carry weapons to their place of employment.
Sheriff Todd Entrekin says they held the meeting to inform the public about the intricacies of the new law.
“There are a lot of changes in the concealed gun laws,” Entrekin said. “You know, if somebody posts a sign at the entrance to their building that no weapons allowed that means nobody even with a concealed permit.”
The new law goes into effect August 1, 2013.
