BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — T’Derek Luster made his first court appearance on Friday.

Luster, a former Birmingham police officer who was arrested on Thursday, appeared in court via closed circuit television.

He is charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of ethics violations.

“We are extremely disappointed by the actions of this former officer. As the leader of this department, I will not tolerate this illegal behavior by any of our personnel. Luster betrayed the public trust which is critical to successful police community relations, ” Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper said in a statement on Thursday.

Luster is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $1 million bond.
