HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) — A police chase in Birmingham ended with a car in the ditch and on fire on Friday afternoon.

Homewood Police received reports of three black males in a silver vehicle who had recently stolen a leaf blower out of a pick-up truck.

Soon thereafter, police received reports that three black males in a silver Chevrolet Malibu burglarized a home on Raleigh Avenue.

Officers from the Homewood Police Department tried to pull the vehicle over. The vehicle did not stop for the officers. It left the road and struck a utility pole on Green Springs Highway.

All of the three suspects were taken into custody, and the stolen items were recovered in the vehicle and outside of the house that was burglarized on Raleigh Avenue.
