(WIAT) – Miles College was the place to be Saturday evening for the premiere of the film “Stand.”

The documentary chronicles the role Miles College and its students played in the Birmingham Civil Rights Movement.

Miles College President Dr. George French, Jr says, “We must reflect and understand what our history is and this documentary “Stand” gives us an opportunity to reflect upon our history as we prepare to go into the future.”

Students of Miles  College created and executed a selective buying campaign, that resulted in the desegregation of two major department stores in downtown Birmingham.
