HANCEVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — Hanceville High School was the site of the worst tornado damage for the entire school district on April 27th.
It’s gym’s roof was completely torn off.
Students have gone without their own gymnasium until now.
Expectations about the new gymnasium has been high, but it seems to have passed the test.
The facility has all the bells and whistles these athletes had on their wish list.
A weight room just off of the main court and the only air conditioned gym in the entire county.
As spectators come in from the lobby, they can still view the full-size court through floor to ceiling windows.
Principal Jimmy Collins says it was well worth the wait.
Students say moving into their new gym feels like one of the final stages left in the tornado recovery.
There is a community wide open house scheduled for the new Hanceville High School gym Sunday, August 4th from 12-2 p.m.
